The Steps Together united walking/running team was the very first fundraiser that started our organization. Every year we endorse local beneficiaries and create a united walking and running team to raise funds on their behalf. In 2018, our team will participate in the Steeplechase Distance Walk & Run on September 30th in Hillsborough, NJ. Our team will be raising funds for local families impacted by a medical crisis while also supporting the Cancer Center @ RWJ-Somerset by participating in their race. Event options include a 2 Mile Walk, 5K, 10K or Sprints for Kids 2 to 11.

By joining the Steps Together team, you will automatically be registered to participate in the 2018 Steeplechase Distance Run/Walk. Team members will receive weekly emails with training tips, suggested workouts, invites to group trainings and fundraising advice starting in August. In addition, all team members will receive a shirt to wear race day highlighting beneficiaries and sponsors. Click here to read our list of frequently asked questions and here to join the Facebook event.

Steps Together invites you to sponsor our walking/running team.  By supporting this unified team, your business will receive exposure across all participating families. Sponsorship opportunities range from $250 to $1,000.

To appear on the 2018 team shirt, sponsors must commit by September 1st.

Huge thank you to our 2018 supporters!

Bill Mather offers training every Sunday mornings year round!   All levels welcome, this is a 1-hour out and back where everyone goes at their own pace. One hour meaning we start at 8 and end at 9 with a group picture, you don’t really need to run or walk for an hour. For more info on Sunday mornings, please email Bill.  You can also run the Miles for Steps Together Facebook Group as he updates it every Saturday night with his Sunday morning plan.  It’s also a fun place to share workouts, ask questions and plan other meet ups.

The plan is to meet on Saturday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 AM in Parking Lot F at Colonial Park.  (Amwell to Mettlers, PASS COLONIAL DRIVE and make the next left!)

All levels of fitness are welcome, walkers and runners.  Our training is very informal. We start together on a marked course and everyone goes their own pace. Many people wear head phones but you’ll be amazed how motivating being a part of a group can be. Distances are suggested and marked, people are welcome to cover more or less.  It’s a good idea to bring a drink!  You do not have to be registered to attend any training sessions. We will gather, take the footbridge over the canal and complete our walk/run on the towpath for a nice soft, shaded surface.  Public restrooms and water fountain are available.

The last two training sessions will be held on the course and we hope to finish training off with our annual pork roll and egg extravaganza training session.

Want to put a little more meaning behind your walk or run? How about putting a little fundraising behind it.  We will take you through the entire process from creating your webpage to overcoming your fear of asking for donations.
